E-Business
(electronic business) is, in its simplest form, the conduct of business on the
Internet. It refers to not only buying and selling but also servicing customers
and collaborating with business partners.
E-Business
(e-Business), or Electronic Business, is the administration of conducting
business via the Internet. This would include the buying and selling of goods
and services, along with providing technical or customer support through the
Internet. e-Business is a term often used in conjunction with e-commerce, but
includes services in addition to the sale of goods.
E-business=e-commerce
+ other business services
E-business
is used as an adjective to describe businesses that mainly operate online, i.e.
they have no physical presence on the high-streets and seek to minimize
customer-service and support through enabling ‘web self-service’.
In
the dot-com era they used to be known as ‘pure-plays’
E-business
(electronic business), derived from such terms as "e-mail" and
"e-commerce," is the conduct of business on the Internet, not only
buying and selling but also servicing customers and collaborating with other
business partners.
Today,
major corporations are rethinking their businesses in terms of the Internet and
its new culture and capabilities.
Companies
are using the Web to buy parts and supplies from other companies, to
collaborate on sales promotions and to do joint research.
Exploiting
the convenience, availability, and world-wide reach of the Internet, many
companies, such as Amazon.com, the book sellers have already discovered how to
use the Internet for their business activities successfully.
Travel
bookings directly or indirectly as a result of Web research are becoming
significant.
Web
has abated and e-business by whatever name is accelerating.
The
majority of Internet services are available to any business or consumer that
has access to the Internet. However, many e-business applications that access
sensitive company information require access to be limited to qualified
individuals or partners.
If
information is restricted to employees inside an organization, this is an
intranet. If access is extended to some others, but not everyone beyond the
organization, this is an extranet. Whenever you log-on to an Internet service
such as that for an e-retailer or online news site, this is effectively an
extranet arrangement, although the term is most often used to mean a
business-to-business application.
E-Business
services refer to all the activities that an enterprise undertakes in its
business utilizing the power of the Internet. Strong frameworks have evolved in
this area promising seamless connectivity and inter-operability across
entities. However, these frameworks need to be understood in the specific
context of the enterprise’s environment to execute the E-Business services
successfully.
